We are excited to announce a new partnership with Casa Biblica, a church located in Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala. We have supported Pastor Luis Carlos Castillo’s “New Generation” ministry with Mission Impact for several years, and this young church is the direct result of his ongoing work to reach young people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ciudad Vieja is a city of about 37,000 residents with a poverty index of over 30%.
The church numbers just under 60, including children, and is renting a facility that needs renovation to create a separate space for children’s ministry. They also need equipment for Sunday worship including musical instruments, lights, computers, cables, and microphones. Casa Biblica, which means “Bible House,” is a non-denominational, Bible-teaching church that hopes to expand its outreach ministry with a medical clinic and to one day establish a Bible college.
How can you help?
God has already been at work, preparing the way for this partnership. Immediately upon hearing about this need, we contacted a missionary organization named Guitars for Glory with whom we have partnered in the past. Two guitars are already on the way to Casa Biblica! Please pray for all of the church's needs to be met, and for how God is calling you to participate in this partnership.
We have committed to provide $5750 toward the total cost of the renovations and equipment between now and the end of 2017. You can give via the offering collection in our Sunday Worship Gathering by designating “Missions” or “Guatemala” on the envelope or check memo line. For other ways to give toward this project, please contact us directly.
A team is forming to travel to Guatemala, serving the needs of Ciudad Vieja and elsewhere, April 7-21, 2018. The exact nature of the team’s work will depend on the abilities of team members. An experienced and trusted short-term missions leader who is local to Central Maine is partnering with us to prepare and train the team. An information brochure is available here.
